[A message from Accessibility SIG President Muhammad Shabbir Awan] On Tuesday 3rd December 2019, the Internet Society Accessibility Special Interest Group (A11ySIG) joins the rest of the world in observing International Day of Persons With Disabilities (IDPD).. To recall, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been annually observed on 3 December worldwide since 1992.
The ISOC IoT SIG was established on November 17, 2017 by a group of ISOC members from Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia. At first stage, we were not more than 120 members. Now this is a community that brings together more than 900 professionals, experts and not only them from all continents except Antarctica.
The mission of the SIG will be governed by the basic principles of promoting participation seeking the social and digital inclusion of rural areas by promoting their development. Connecting hospitals and schools in rural areas where there is limited or no broadband service available through commercial operators.
